Starting this book was a mistake. Ryan Holiday is one of my favorite writers but I’m not very interested in his marketing experience, mainly his philosophical views.
This book came along at a perfect time and informed a tremendous amount of the work that my partners and I set out to do in Las Vegas. Highly historical and scientific, if you’re interested in cities you’ll love this book.
Another required reading book. Don’t be a startup founder who doesn’t understand every single point in this book.

This book from Patagonia’s founder changed my view of a company’s role in the world.
I’m obviously biased considering the author is a personal friend and a business partner. The more you know Tony the more you realize this book is authentic.
This book presents is a factual (vs opinionated) overview of the growth of Walmart. It is particularly helpful for understanding how scale drives down supply chain costs in rapidly scaling businesses. I think of it often when considering companies like Uber.
Like most people in business I consider this book required reading if you are doing anything other than checking people out at a grocerys store.
